1 Dear Mr. Koymasky,

I just finished reading your Magnum Opus The Merchant of Venice about Lorenzo and Polo, having been attracted to it by the title. I am happy that Polo ended up financially secure and married. Like him, I enjoyed Lorenzo's adventures and would have been willing to let him show me how they felt.

Thank you for 29 enjoyable chapters without any nasty experiences. Fun reading.

David

1 Wow!
Your are one of the best writers I have ever read on Nifty. So much story-telling talent and nuance. And where other grind along with groans and thrusts, your characters are built of hearts and minds, with some nice meaty equipment and lusty emotions, but coming from an evolved personality. I first read The Merchant of Venice, then My Ten Models and now enjoying Seven Brothers for Mel Baxter. What a range of style and characters!

Congratulations on your skill and imagination.

1 Dear Andrej,

I wrote to you before about Barcelona and Sitges, after I saw you on Nifty the first time. Since then I've been exploring your library further. I felt obliged to thank you for each story, but that would be silly. Finally though I have to say something. I'm currently reading about The Merchant of Venice. I suspect it will be one of my favorite of your stories, though there are so many to choose from. One of them is "Boy-san", which I've already finished as of several weeks ago. Your writing and your translator have a wonderful touch.

con caninyo,
Ken

1 Hi,
It would be a gross understatement and extreme shortening of my words to simply say that I love your stories. They inspire me, give me hope and comfort. Sitting down or lying down and reading them, once I was acquainted with your writing, has quickly become my most favourite pastime, at cost of others but I don't mind that ; )

n the country I live in, it is not illegal anymore officially to be gay, but still one can be spat on and stoned to death for being so. Reading these delightful stories gives me hope that assuredly there is Paradise somewhere on Earth and it gives me hope that someday I might reach it. It gives me light in the darkness of toxic masculinity and stifling conservatism of my so called religion and my family.

It gives me a way of escape in my imagination and with those fascinating characters that you have so lovingly created. In fact, it would also be an understatement to say that your stories helped me come to terms with and accept my sexuality in a way as gay and proud. Sometimes I'm afraid and then I read about Lorenzo and Poletto (The Merchant of Venice), or Eugenio (of Dear Eugenio}. and I have hope to come out of the dear with renewed strength and force of will.

So I can do little to pay my enormous debt to you by thanking you most profusely for writing your stories and helping me enjoy a few moments of my life.
Regards,
D.

1 Andrej:

I have now read through #10 of "Merchant of Venice", the story of tales being told.

In addition to having been in Venice a year ago August, in 1989 I spent almost a week in Baghdad about a year before the first Gulf War. I could identify with many of the physical points and locations in that chapter.

Best wishes!

Kent

1 I read three stories so far. They are all full of love. There is a "glow" around the main character of the stories like in the merchant of venice, etc. that stays with you after you stop reading

1 Guys,

I feel like the guy in the story: thousand and one nights. I look forward to each chapter and the pecadillos which go with it of The Merchant of Venice or The Twenty-Four Nights of Lorenzo and Poletto.

I was even driven to the dictionary to look up a word which I had never seen before. Two additional gold bars for you.

Really enjoying the stories.

Norman

1 The Merchant of Venice is a delightfully written tale Andrej. The english language is one of the hardest to master as it is so illogical, varied and changing from day to day.

Keep writing you have talent.

Best Wishes.

1 Hi Andrej,

I've read "The Merchant of Venice". The only point I could make about this story - set of stories - is that having got to know both Lorenzo and Poletto I find them both quite unattractive, especially Poletto, who comes across as a sycophant. But you must know the times and social environment in which these characters lived. Furthermore, the success or otherwise of characterisation depends partly on the reader's likes and dislikes, don't you think?

Several of your stories have failed to interest me because I was out of sympathy with the context or, like "Chipi", I found all too complicated.

The opposite is the case with "Akim", "Beach Tales", "Black Clover", "Dear Eugenio", "In Full Flight", "President's Son", "Tattoo", "Writing from Prison", "Boy-san" all of which received my four-star rating along with "Happy Christmas Niel and Norman".

Of the forty-five of your stories I have on disk, very few were not 'can't stop reading' ones - "Counting to Ten", "Foot in Shoes", "Soul in Cellular" were three such.

Returning to The Merchant of Venice stories, they are all interesting and match those I list just above for variety of characters, plots and everything else.

I feel very diffident about offering these comments to a master story teller. But they are well meant.

Best regards,

John

1 Dear Matt and Andrej,

I am OVERWHELMED by your website! There is so much to see and read, I just don't know where to go. I came in through a window of the library (I had done a Google search for "ragazzi prostituti"} and started reading "Lo Mercatante Venetiano". So delighted was I with the story of "Il segretario del Doge", I read the whole thing, not realizing until later that it was only one of 24 other racconti, and that the whole work was only one among hundreds in the library.

I have been studying Italian for about 4 years now, so when I stumbled into your library you can imagine my surprise and delight. Oohoo, gay stories in Italiano! What more could I ask for!?

Well, there's enough material in your library to keep me busy for years to come, and as an exercise I have even begun to translate the introduction to "Lo Mercatante Venetiano". When I am finished with it perhaps you would like to read it, and if you approve of it I would be glad to help you translate more of the racconti.

Although I don't often get the chance to use my italian on a daily basis, I read and write in Italian almost every day and I'm pretty good at it, if I do say so myself.

Now I'm going to go and explore more of your "house". I just had to stop and tell you how amazed I am, and the thank you for providing this remarkable website. I am a graphic artist and web designer, so I really appreciate all the work that you've done.

Now, If you don't mind, I'll just pull up a chair in the library and stay around for a few days or weeks. Ma, dov'è la cucina? Non la vedo. Ho un po' di fame e mi farei un panino e prenderei una birra mentre leggo : )

ciao ragazzi, a presto!

Jerry
