1 Andrej,

I am continuing to read your stories.

I enjoy very much the way you delve into such a variety of other cultures that I am mostly not familiar with (though I have travelled quite widely). Japan (boy san) Romany (manush) Mafia (double shunt) and now Montsabot. And in addition your accounts seem authentic - either you know them from the inside, or you research them well.

There is a large store which will keep me happily busy for some time to come.

1 Hey Andrej,

I thought I'd finally drop you a line. "The Quest" is the third of your stories that I've read on Nifty, I believe. The first and second being those featuring the Japanese fishermen "The tide's man" and the French orphanage "Montsabot Charterhouse". I've enjoyed each one of them.

Warmest regards,

James

1 Sorry that I have not written before now, but I have eagerly read each chapter of "Montsabot Charterhouse", an extremely well written story with much enjoyment. First of all, it takes place in France, a place I deeply desire to visit since I majored in French language 50 years ago. And secondly, it deals with love and taking care of youth. As a retired educator and counselor, I have always had a soft spot for children who had difficult home situations. I was a single parent myself and know the struggle to provide while having to work two jobs.

Your writing is excellent. I may be reading a translation, but that, too, was done very well. Thank you for sharing this story.

1 Greetings Andrej...

I just read the story "Montsabot Charterhouse" on Nifty and found it to be quite fascinating. I am puzzled as to why this story isn't in the 'Historical' section.

1 Hello:

I have come to read your story "Montsabot Charterhouse". I cannot remember the time that I have cried from reading, it has been quite long. Thank you.

I am very interested to look through your materials from WWII, I did a holocaust movie for my high school junior project.

My senior year was taken by becoming a foster child. I married, and after coming out, got custody of my three children and now have seven grandchildren. I'm a lawyer, still barely due to health, and an old man.

I am looking forward to your website.

I have just finished reading Montsabot Charterhouse, your latest posting on Nifty. It was the work of a master storyteller.

To be able to run a story through most of the 20th Century was amazing, and especially to have an excellent storyline - and keep it centered on a Gay lifestyle.

It was apparent that the story was translated into English, but the style added to the charm of the story.

Keep up the good work - I look forward to your next posting

1 Dear Andrej,
I would be happy to comment on this story, "Montsabot Charterhouse." Two things brought me into your story - time and place. I loved following the history through your eyes and I loved your account of the peoples' feelings in France. You did well developing your characters... I bought into them as being real - personalities, quirks, etc. Also, you "killed them off" at the right time and in the right way - (true to the period and even today). While you played around with the idea of having great wealth, in the beginning, you were true to the heart of the story - and, did not make smoother the story in vast wealth and the fantasy of wealth. You focused on the lives of the individuals. As far as the sex - it was appropriate and in good taste, not over done (I am okay with overdone, too - but does not always make for an interesting story). I loved your translation, I really loved it! I felt like you, the author, was a part of the story the entire time.

Please, forgive me for only knowing English.

1 Hello,

Just a note to say how much I've appreciated your "Montsabot Charterhouse". Your description of naive adolescent sexual awakening and discovery is simply the best. Very sweet and with a bit of humor. You've created the drama by developing intelligent, complex characters who are products of their society and era, but think "outside the box".

Congratulations - Even without any sexual activity so far, you story is intriguing... actually, compelling.

Please, please keep up the good work... for your fans... ^_^

Regards,
Joe

1 I enjoyed your story "Montsabot Charterhouse" very much and am looking forward to reading more of your stories.

Your English translation is extremely good. In fact, you write better than many native speakers.

Since you asked for help with translation, I thought I'd point out one thing. You used the term, "for sure," several times. If this story were set in 1980s California, the term would fit perfectly. It was part of an American dialect called "Valspeak" which was popularized by "Valley Girls" and pronounced "fer sher."

In a piece of historical fiction, I would be more inclined to use "certainly" or "for certain." I'm currently trying to brush up on my French and learn German. I hope that I learn to speak them as well as you write in English.

Thanks. Keep writing!

1 I liked "Montsabot Charterhouse" a lot. The characters were interesting and likable and the plot kept moving and always kept me interested, and often surprised. It was not at all predictable.

The sex was hot and good, and the right ratio to story; not too much, not too little.

The one thing I did not like was the end. I know you have to end it sometime and some way, but it seemed abrupt.
