Adams was born in 1970 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His father was a teacher. He is the second of three brothers. He attended local Catholic elementary and secondary schools before graduating with a bachelor's degree from La Roche College.
Adams moved to Los Angeles, California in 1992. He began writing articles on various sex-related topics for Sex Vibe, an occasional magazine published by AIDS Project Los Angeles. He continued to contribute to the publication until its demise in 1998.
J.C. Adams has covered the gay adult entertainment industry, and has served as the editor of "Inside Porn Magazine," "Unzipped Monthly" and the Adam Gay Video Directory, the industry bible. In addition to the syndicated "Adams Report" weekly gossip and news column, his work has appeared in "Adult Video News," "Gay Chicago," "Genre," "HX" and many other print and online publications.
In January 1998, he debuted "The Adams Report by JC Adams" a weekly gossip and news column that morphed into GayPornTimes.com in 2007. His work has appeared in Adult Video News, Gay Chicago, Genre, New York's HX and many other print and online publications. He is also a regular guest "sexpert" on "The Derek & Romaine Show" on Sirius OutQ satellite radio.
Adams' career producing and directing gay adult films began in 2000. Real to Reel, an adult film company, hired him to direct but the movie was never completed. In early 2004, Adams directed his first credited gay porn scenes, including the film Shooters from MSR Videos.
In August 2006, Studio 2000 owner David McKay hired Adams as his new chief of production. The first film he managed for the studio, Big Boat, was released in January 2007.
The "home base" for Adams' column is currently GayPornTimes.com, a Web site which he also helps manage and edit. He presently lives in Los Angeles.
