Brad has been with his partner, Star Trek's George Takei who played Sulu, since 1988.
On May 16, 2008, Brad announced that he and George, would be getting married. They will be married September 14, at the Democracy Forum of the Japanese American National Museum in Los Angeles (George is one of the founders). Walter Koenig will be his best man, and Nichelle Nichols will be the matron of honor.
On June 17, shortly after Brad and George obtained their marriage license, they spread the news by holding a press conference outside the West Hollywood city auditorium.
