Anastasia the Patrician (or Anastasia of Constantinople)
(? - 568) Serbia
Saint - Feast day - March 10
Anastasia, born in Pannonia (actual Serbia) fleeing the lecherous advances of the emperor Justinian and the jealousy of the empress Theodora, built a convent five miles from Alexandria of Egypt and here lived as the "eunuch" Anastasius dressing as a monk.
After the death of Theodora, Justinian resumed his pursuit of Anastasia and she found refuge in a cave near the lavra of the abbot Daniel in Scete (Syrian Orient). There she lived as a recluse until her death twenty years later.
