Gloria Anzaldúa
(1942 - living) U.S.A.

Writer, and teacher
Born and brought up in a south Texas ranching environement, Gloria was educated at Pan American University, the University of Texas, and the University of California, Santa Cruz. In 1981 together with Cherrie Moraga she co-edited This Bridge Called My Back: Writings by Radical Women of Color, which became a key text in Women's Studies as the first collection to bring together the voices of feminists of colour challenging racism and classism, and fully engaging with lesbian perspectives at a time when their position in Women's Studies was much contested.
This was followed by Haciendo caras (Making Face, Making Soul, 1990), and La Frontera (Borderlands, 1987).
