Rob grew up in Porirua, New Zealand. He is the youngest of five children.

He started work as a postman - but it was show business that he really wanted to be in. He auditioned for every series of "New Zealand Idol" and auditioned twice for "Showstoppers" - the second time in disguise - but he was found out.

Rob ArnoldFinally he made it by winning a place with the group "Boyband". "Boyband" was an attempt to create New Zealand's first boy band and a contest was held by one the radio stations. The names for the members were Hot Boy, Bad Boy, Mummy's Boy, Fat Boy and Gay Boy. Their first record went straight to number one in New Zealand.

Rob has appeared in a TV reality program "Ultimate Challenge" and has had small roles in several motion pictures. He and his partner Tom Castle were on another NZ show - "How Normal Are You?"

Rob won the "Spunkiest Boy" Award at the Glammies in Wellington, New Zealand and was crowned "Queer Idol" at Pride Week 2005.
