Goddess
In Greek mytholgy the goddess (Diana for the Romans) of chastity, chidbirth, and the young; she was envisaged as a virgin huntress; her cult centre was at Ephesus.
She was later also identified with Selene, goddess of the Moon.
Artemis rejects traditional roles, such as marriage, and feels kinship to those beyond traditional roles.
Her festivals included same sex worship from men and women.
