In 1964 he graduated from art school in the average Poznan, and in 1968 received a diploma from the National Higher School of Film, Television and Theater.
On the silver screen, appeared for the first time in the TV movie Father (1967), and then the series More than the rate of force (1968) and Four Tank Men and a Dog (1970).

Barbasiewicz never concealed their sexual orientation homosexual. He was one of the first public figures in Poland, which has openly talked about between 80 and 90. Journalist Maria Nurowska in "Mrs." (No. 9 / 1992) presented a portrait of the actor added, "is a homosexual, and for him the same fact as that the sun is shining, if it rains".
In 1988 he was awarded the Silver Cross of Merit and in 2005 the Gold Cross of Merit.
