Socialist, trade union leader, author, and feminist, she caused a scandal in Puerto Rico, Cuba nad New York when she wore male trousers in public.
Luisa was the first woman to habitually use male attire in Puerto Rico.
In the picture on the left we can see Luisa Capetillo on the day she was arrested in Cuba, on the charge of wearing on the public street clothes allowed "sólo para hombres" (only to men).
