Aaron Charney, a fourth-year associate when he filed his suit in January 2007, worked at New York-based Sullivan & Cromwell, one of the biggest law firms in the country; he sued the firm for sexual orientation discrimination, alleging a pattern of anti-gay behavior.
Aaron had alleged that several partners in Sullivan & Cromwell's mergers and acquisitions practice subjected him to "lewd and illegal conduct". Among other complaints, Aaron suit alleged one partner threw a document at his feet and told him to "bend over and pick it up - I'm sure you like that."
