Of Italian descent, Kenneth grew up in San Bernardino, CA. Was always into gay research and education, but did not explore it until early 30s. His twenties were spent partying in San Francisco and following the circuit, until he read Micheanglo Signorile's Queer in America in the mid 1990s. It was at that moment he wanted to become an LGBTQ trying to understand and give back to his community. He gave up his career in the Investment Management industry, and went back to graduate school - getting his Phd in 2004

Ken has written numerous articles for Advocate.com, Gay Financial Network, INT Media and CBS Marketwatch. He holds both a MA and PhD in political science from Claremont Graduate Universitys School of Economics and Politics. Also, he holds a Masters of Public Administration from the University of Southern California. And he holds a BA in History from the University of California at Davis. Before entering the field of academia, Kenneth, worked several years in the investment management and finance industries in San Francisco. He is a former Advocate editorial intern and has been a featured guest on radio shows, such as Sirius Out "Qs The John McMullen Show and Q TN". Now single, Kenneth did have a long term partner.

"I wish more of my twenties had been spent reading on the LGBTQ community and not about dancing and drugs. So, if I could give any "pearls of wisdom" to young LGBTQ, it would be don't be afraid to get out of the gym and read LGBTQ authors. Working out your brain is just as important as your biceps. Finally, we can't be taken seriously as a culture until we acknowledge the people before us and led the way. In other words, I would hope young LGBTQ know who the heck individuals such as Larry Krammer are." (Kenneth Cimino)

Kenneth (Ken) Cimino passed away on June 20, 2008.
