Aagje (Agatha) Deken
(1741 - 1804) Holland
Writer
Born in Amstelveen, Holland, she wrote pietist poems; but she is famous for writing, starting from 1776, in collaboration with her friend, and lover, Elisabet Wolff Bekker novels in epistolary style, like Historie van mejuffrouw Sara Burgerhart (The Story of Miss Sara Burgerhart, 1782) representing with naturalness the life of the Dutch middle-class.
