Billionaire, philanthropist, and chairman and CEO of USA Interactive (which includes the Home Shopping Network, Ticketmaster, Match.com, Expedia, Hotels.com); former chairman and CEO of Silver King Communciations, QVC, and Fox (he turned Fox into the "fourth network" to challenge the then-domination of American prime time television by ABC, CBS, and NBC).

Barry Diller's homosexuality was an open secret for most of his career as the head of 20th Century Fox. The powerful producer came out of the closet shortly before leaving that studio to pursue other projects. He is now a major player in the development of the "information superhighway" merging home shopping and computer networks.

In March 2003 Diller stepped down as chairman and chief executive of Vivendi Universal Entertainment (which he joined in 1997) to focus on USA Interactive; Diller was listed #9 on Vanity Fair's The New Establishment 2002 ranking of the 50 most powerful leaders of the information age, and he was also listed #4 on the gfn.com (Gay Financial Network) 1999 list of the 25 most influential out gay and lesbian executives in corporate America.

He married designer Diane Von Furstenburg on February 2, 2001.
