René-Daniel Dubois

René-Daniel was born in Montréal. An actor trained at the National Theatre School of Canada (1973-76) and the Institut Alain Knapp in Paris (1978-79), he has directed numerous theatrical works and has taught at the National Theatre School of Canada and at the Conservatoire d'art dramatique de Québec. None of the practical domains of the stage are foreign to him, including film, television, and song (as a lyricist).
He received the Governor General's Award for literature in 1984 for Ne blâmez jamais les bédouins. He was administrator of the Centre d'essai des auteurs dramatiques in 1980-1981 and became its president in 1989. His play Being at Home with Claude was adapted for the cinema in 1992.
