Pat Durham

Pat Durham, a visionary for elder lesbian rights, died on June 3rd in Los Osos, CA. Durham was co-founder and served as executive director of Options for Women Over 40 from 1981 to 1986. She led the move of Options to The Women's Building, helping to secure a permanent home for women's groups.
Durham was Director of Women's Activities for Gay and Lesbian Outreach to Elders (GLOE) of Operation Concern, which became New Leaf's Outreach to Elders (NLOE). She retired from GLOE in 1992.
She was appointed to the Commission on Aging in 1997 and served as its president until 1999. She also served among the leaders of the Second 'Old Lesbians Organizing for Change' Conference (OLOC) held in San Francisco during 1989.
Durham is also remembered fondly as a co-founder of the Pat Bond Old Dyke Awards, and as organizer of Reading and Talking Women, an on-going senior lesbian group sponsored by NLOE.
Durham is survived by her partner Rosemary Hathaway; one daughter, Annelle Durham; two sons, Bob and John; and four grandchildren.
