Gabriel d'Yturri
(1868 - 1905) Peru - France.

Secretary to Montesquiou
Yturri, a handsome Peruvian immigrant, was brought up by priests in Lisbon. In 1885, he became the secretary, companion, and possibly lover to poet Count Robert de Montesquiou, who had aristocratic women friends, but much preferred the company of bright and attractive young men.
Twenty years later, Yturri died of diabetes, assisted by Montesquiou; he is buried together with Montesquiou in a Versailles' cemetery.
[The portrait of Yturri is by talented artist Antonio de La Gandara (Paris, 1861-1917), whom Montesquiou, Verlaine, Jean Lorrain, and Marcel Proust much admired.]
