Febrônio was, in 1927, under the accusation to have strangled two minors who had resisted his homosexual attacks: Almiro Jose Ribeiro, and João Blacksmith. But Febrônio an Indo miner, was already known to the policy, having been arrested in 1916, for robbery, vagrancy and blackmail. Febrônio also wrote a book, Revelations of the Prince of the Fire.

In the trial, the lawyer Letácio Jansen, requested his internment in a "house for insane people where he have the needed security and monitoring". In the hospice, Febrônio initially tried to reduce its penalty, then asked fot the acquittal or to get transferred to the Colony Juliano Moreira, in Jacarepaguá.

When Febrônio was 89 year-old, and the oldest prisoner of Brazil, intern number 000001 in the Judiciary Lunatic asylum, died of pulmonary edema. He had spent 57 years in the hospice.
