Edith Hamilton (1867-1963) moved (in 1924?) to New York where she lived with long time friend and former student Doris Fielding Reid. They lived together for about 60 years. After her death, in 1964, her long-time companion Doris Fielding Reid published the book "Edith Hamilton: An Intimate Portrait".
Doris died ten years later in Lenox Hill, New York.
