Leonor Fini
(1908 - January 18, 1996) Italy - Argentine

Painter
Born in Buenos Aires from Italian parents, from 1920 she grew up in her mother's home in Trieste, northern Italy. Afterwards she lived in Rome, then in Paris where she died.
After being expelled from every school she attended, she studied the old and new masters in museums and anatomy in the morgue. Being thus a self-tought painter, she formed her style studying the painters of the 15th century. Her imaginative world is akin to that of surrealists, but with a plastic and colouristic vividness derived from "metaphysical" painting.
