Tomi Boone Finkle started her law enforcement career with the U.S. Capitol Police in the late 1970s, when she was still a man. Ms. Finkle is a member of the Washington D.C. Metropolitan Police Department's Police Auxiliary Service and is assigned to the Gay-Lesbian-Liaison-Unit. She serves as the Administrative Community Relations Specialist. Tomi (pronounced with a long "i") brings a wealth of professionalism and experience to the Unit.
Tomi was born in the District of Columbia and has lived within the D.C. Metropolitan area her entire life. She has a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice and is a retired Sergeant of the United States Capitol Police. Her law enforcement background includes; victim-witness assistance, domestic violence, hate crimes, public relations, security awareness, emergency preparedness, investigations, evidence recovery and has received the Police Officer of the Year Award for an act of Bravery.
She is a GLBT diversity awareness facilitator is active member of the Transgender communities of the Washington and Baltimore areas. Additionally, she is one of three Search and Rescue Mounted Unit Teams within the State of Maryland, serves as the team's training officer and is an active member of the Maryland Search Team Task Force.
