Stephen John Fry
(August 24, 1957 - living) U.K.
Comic actor, novelist and screenwriter
Born in Hampstead, London, Fry was brought up in Norfolk and studied at Queen's College, Cambridge, appearing in over thirty plays while at the university. He appeared in many TV and radio productions throughout the 1980s and 1990s.
In 1995 he hit the headlines when he disappeared from London shortly before he was to act in Simon Gray's play Cell Mates. It appeared that he'd suffered some sort of breakdown and decided to travel to Europe to escape media pressure and general stress.
On his return to the UK, and after a long period of claiming celibacy, he publicly acknowledged his homosexuality and acquired a boyfriend, seeming happier all around.
