David Lawrence Geffen

Record and film magnate
Theater and film producer, born in Brooklyn, New York. He started record label Asylum Records in 1970. Later he founded Geffen Records, and is the head of the Geffen Corporation. He is together with Jeffrey Katzenberg (Disney video's) and Steven Spielberg (Schindler's list, ET, Saving Private Ryan) owner of Dream Works SKG. This company makes films, TV-shows, records, toys and computer software.
He came out of the closet at an AIDS benefit for APLA in 1992. Since then he has been a strong supporter of Lesbian/Gay civil rights organizations and events, including donation of a million-dollar building to house the G/L Services center in Los Angeles.
In the seventies he had an affair with singer Cher, and allegedly his lover was Keanu Reeves. In 1992 he donated $1 million to the Gay Men's Health Crisis in New York; more recently he donated $200 million to the UCLA medical school.
