Brian Graden grew up in Illinois and graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1981. He graduated from Oral Roberts University in 1985 with a degree in business, and later graduated with a MBA from Harvard.

He began working in television, ultimately becoming an executive at Fox, during which time he saw the short animated film Jesus vs Frosty, made by Trey Parker and Matt Stone. He commissioned them to make another film, to give as a Christmas present to his friends. The film, Jesus vs Santa, became well known among celebrities and college students, and on the internet, and from there he helped Parker and Stone develop the animation into the series South Park.

He is the former executive producer of the hugely popular (and gay sensible) animated series South Park; #13 on the gfn.com (Gay Financial Network) 1999 list of the 25 most influential out gay and lesbian executives in corporate America. President of Entertainment for VH1, CMT, and the new LGBT channel, Logo, which he assisted in the launch;

Brian Graden is Executive Vice President in charge of Programming for MTV: Music Television. In this position, Graden oversees all aspects of MTV Programming including Music, News and Specials and Animation. MTV's leading force behind the positive gay imagery popping up on our youth's most powerful mouth piece.

In the April 2007 issue of Out Magazine he was ranked the number ten most powerful gay person in America. He has also been named one of the most influential executives in reality programming.
