Scholar

An eminent classicist and major theorist in gay and lesbian studies, Halperin has published widely on greek and Latin bucholic poetry, the relations between ancient Greece and Near East, and various topics in literary history, comparative literature and other fields.

After serving as Professor of Literature and Head of the Literature Faculty at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology for a number of years, he taught at the University of New South Wales, Australia, and now holds a chair of English Language and Literature at the University of Michigan in Ann harbor.
