(1950 - 25 July 1987) U.S.A.
Dick Hanson, co-chair of Minnesota Farm-Labor Association (c. 1983), died from AIDS-related illness. His partner, Burt Henningson (1950 - May 1988) died a year later. The couple were veteran political activists from Glenwood, Minnesota whose story about living with HIV was featured in a 1987 Pulitzer Prize-winning series AIDS in the Heartland which was published by the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
They spent the last years of their lives carrying the word about HIV prevention and care to churches, schools and communities throughout Greater Minnesota. In May 1987, they took the message to Saint Paul as Dick addressed the Minnesota Senate.
