Burt Henningson
(? - 1988) U.S.A.
Activist
Burt Henningson died from AIDS related complications one year after his lover Dick Hanson. The couple were veteran political activists from Glenwood, Minnesota whose story about living with HIV was featured in a 1987 Pulitzer Prize-winning series AIDS in the Heartland which was published by the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
They spent the last years of their lives carrying the word about HIV prevention and care to churches, schools and communities throughout Greater Minnesota. In May 1987, they took the message to Saint Paul as Dick, his lover, addressed the Minnesota Senate.
