Mr. Hochberg earned a B.A. from New York University and an M.B.A. from Columbia. He completed the John F. Kennedy School of Government's Executive Leadership Program at Harvard. Deputy administrator of U.S. Small Business Administration (the U.S.'s largest single financial backer of small business), the first openly gay person to be appointed a deputy in a U.S. cabinet-level agency (1998).
President and chief operating officer of the Lillian Vernon Corporation (1989-1993); has served as co-chair of the Human Rights Campaign (HRC); #11 on the gfn.com (Gay Financial Network) 1999 list of the 25 most influential out gay and lesbian executives in corporate America, and one of the 2001 gfn.com 25.
