An editor of Gay Community News from 1978 to 1982, Amy is the author of Hospital Time, a memoir about taking care of friends with AIDS. She has an MFA in creative writing from the University of Massachusetts and is currently the editor of Women's Review of Books.
In her book An Army of Ex-Lovers: My Life at the Gay Community News, Amy recalls with wit the heady debates that roiled the staff.
