Vladimir HorowitzBorn in Kiev, Ukraine, he studied under F. Blumenfeld, and when 17 year-old he performed at Char'kov, then toured the most important cities of Europeand USA with an intense piano concertist activity. Horowitz made his debut in the USA, with the New York Philarmonic Orchestra, in 1928.

Vladimir Horowitz In 1933 he married conductor Arturo Toscanini's daughter, Wanda. In 1939 they fled to America and from 1940 they settled in the States. Horowitz was a leading interpreter of Liszt, Schumann, and Rachmaninov. He won a 25 Grammy awards during his career (the third-highest total by any individual musician). In 1986 Horowitz returned to Russia to give concerts in Moscow and Leningrad.
