Jed Joseph Johnson
(December 30, 1948 - July 17, 1996) U.S.A.

Interior designer, director
Jed was born in Alexandria, Minnesota along with twin Jay.
In 1967 Andy Warhol received notice that the building that the Factory was in was to be demolished. Paul Morrissey found new accommodation at 33 Union Square. It was there that he met Jed, then a telegram boy. Paul was stripping the walls and was finding it a hard job for one person and he asked Jed to help and then later hired him.
Jed was introduced to Andy and they became lovers and lived together for twelve years. He was involved in the making of a number of the "Andy Warhol" films as cinematographer or producer and he directed "Andy Warhol's Bad" which starred Carol Baker.
By 1980, Jed began his interior design business in one of the bedrooms of Andy's townhouse in Manhattan and developed an eclectic style that included the contemporary and classic. With clients such as Richard Gere, Mick Jagger, and Barbra Streisand, Johnson decorated by "looking at the personality of the client and taking your clues from it. . . . You get an image of a room that would suit them," he remarked. It is said that he started by tidying up the townhouse and it went on from there. He set up, with his life partner architect Alan Wanzenberg, the company Jed Johnson Associates, now run by his twin brother Jay.
Jed was a passenger on TWA Flight 800 which exploded over Long Island in 1986.
