Kains Jackson was dubbed one of the "Uranian" movement in his capacity as editor of the monthly magazine Artist and Journal of Home Culture. At the end of 19th and beginning of the 20th century there was a group of British writers, connected to each other by varying degrees of acquaintance and a commn interest in (predominantly) "boy-love", that was called "Uranian".

Kains Jackson became editor of the Artist in 1888. He discretely solicited and surreptitiously printed works that had little to do with the magazine's ostensible concern. The last issue he was to edit included his "The New Chivalry" essay about the social potential of boy-love.
