David Leavitt

Author
David was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the younghest of three children, grew up in Palo Alto, California, and attented Yale University where in 1983 he graduated with a BA in English, having studied creative writing and literary history.
In 1989 he received a Guggenheim fellowship and spent time in Barcelona as foreign-writer-in-residence at the Institute of Catalan Letters. Since the late 1980s he has lived in a farm in Tuscany, in Italy with his lover, Mark Mitchell. He is professor of creative writing at the University of Florida.
