Musician, actor, artist, filmmaker, television host and producer; fomer MuchMusic V.J.; now living in Winnipeg and host of the CBC radio program Definitely Not the Opera; she discussed her coming out on the March 25, 1997 episode of the Canadian queer TV program 10%-Qtv

She first garnered national attention as the lead singer of the influential Vancouver alternative band "Bob's Your Uncle". She subsequently released several solo albums, performed in a wide range of theatre, film and television projects, and in 1995 became a VJ for national music video network MuchMusic. There she proved herself to be a thoughtful and articulate host and interviewer whose inside knowledge of music proved an enormous benefit in establishing a rapport with her subjects.

Since leaving MuchMusic, Sook-Yin has remained in the public eye with a featured role in the film version of the stage musical Hedwig and the Angry Inch and the romantic lead in the Canadian Film Centre-produced feature The Art of Woo. With her inquiring mind, kaleidoscopic range of talents and her comfort with all aspects of the media, Sook-Yin is uniquely suited for the hectic and eclectic hosting role.
