Saint Marina

Saint - Feast day July 17th

Marina, unlike the other "transvestite" saints, entered a convent as a tiny child with her father who was concerned about her fate if she were left alone in the sinful world. He impressed upon her the importance of concealing her true sex and she assumed the name of Marinos.

Years later she was accused of fathering a child and she and the baby lived outside the monastery gate. After five years, she was allowed to return to the monastery where she humbly lived a life of great hardship.
