Born Pat Richardson in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of James A. (owner of Richardson Trucking Company) and Maude B. Richardson (community activist and leader), in 1983 she became lifetime partners with Karen Norman. Pat and Karen Norman raised six children, and by 1995, had seven grandchildren.
Pat was co-chair of 1987 March on Washington and Stonewall 25. She runs the Institute for Community Health Outreach in San Francisco. Pat said lesbians tend to be involved in a broad array of political and social fronts, not exclusively lesbian or women's ones. That diffuses the community. They are raising children, going to church - connecting with dozens of communities, contributing to many.
Pat serves on the Police Commission. She has a job in the AIDS field and work against the anti-affirmative action initiative on the fall state ballot. She is Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Advisory Committee (LGBTAC) of San Francisco Chair.
