Born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, he began singing Country Music professionally at the age of 15 years, with a very well-known local group, "The Country Horizons Band," formed by his brother Phillip Pacheo. Charlie began his career singing to a primarily "Classic Country" audience.
With the onset of AIDS in 1981 Charlie took the band from Texas honky tonks to local gay bars to do fund raisers. Charlie, a founding member of LGCMA, moved with his lover to San Francisco in 1994. His lover was battling AIDS, so the paramours moved there to obtain better medical care.
In 1996 he began to do fund raising for AIDS organizations, singing country music all over San Francisco. He lived in the Castro neighborhood and was fondly named by his neighbors "The Castro Cowboy" and the name stuck!
Charlie has dazzled audiences at several major events, and has appeared as a regular live entertainer. Charlie has released a new CD Here Come The Blues, which is getting extensive airplay all around the world and on the Internet.
