Catherine Elizabeth Pierson was born in Weehawken, New Jersey. She is one of the lead singers and founding members of The B-52's. She also played keyboard and guitar for the band. In The B-52's she performs alongside Cindy Wilson , Fred Schneider , and Keith Strickland.

She is openly bisexual and has been in a relationship with Monica Coleman for over 5 years.
