Originally a homegrown Houstonian, openly gay comic Georgia (aka Genjca Bagsdale or Genjda Bagsdale) is one of the most exciting performers emerging from the ranks of gay comics. She has an energetic, physical style of delivery and a fresh personal appeal that crosses over, while her connection to gay men in particular remains striking. Georgia has completed a lead role in the feature film, Never Met Picasso, and has been the recipient of back to back development deals to star in a sitcom.
The first at ABC Productions, followed by Norman Lear's ACT III. Her recent concert comedy video, Sporty Girls, has been screened in over a dozen film festivals (2001-2002) in major cities and has been picked up for both for video distribution and for cable tv. Her stand up comedy career of ten years has culminated in the video releases, Honey Pass That Around, with distribution by Wolfe Video and a CD, Always Forward, Never Straight.
She is a favorite performer of the human rights campaign, and has been the featured entertainer and emcee for over 20 of their Black Tie events. Additionally, she performs longer runs in Provincetown, MA, Key West, FL, and Los Angeles, CA.
Armed with actor training from Southern Methodist University, she embarked on a career that has garnered NEA grants for her work, taken her stand up comedy to over 350 stages and created a loyal fan base.
