Born at Apeldoorn, Gelderland, a dutchman by birth, he felt more connected to Flanders.

After a course at the drama school in Maastricht, Reehuis moved to Flanders, where his playing style found more appreciation. Among others he appeared in the film role Napoleon in De boezemvriend (1982). His latest film role was Professor Swezick in the comic film De zeemeerman [1996]. Reehuis became known for his distinctive, warm voice and exemplary diction. He became known to the general public for his role in the film The Bosom Friend of Yardbirds.

Reehuis was also a popular voice actor. Among others Winnie the Pooh, The bell-ringer of the Nôtre-Dame and two films from the Harry Potter series, as minister Droebel. What is often forgotten is that, in addition to acting, he was also a poet and pamphletist.

His straightforward way of life made him friends and enemies. He had a tendency to overact, he knew that himself, and often used it to annoy critics. Once they had disappeared, he returned to deep and broad play.

Reehuis died in Amsterdam, aged 73.
