Ed Roy has worked as Associate Artist, Company Dramaturge, for Buddies in Bad Times Theatre; Director of Theatre Training Program for the Workman Theatre Project; National Theatre School Guest Instructor in 1998-2001; Associate Artist for the Theatre Direct Canada 1997-1999; Playwright in Residence in 1997-1999 at the Tarragon Theatre; Playwright in Residence at Banff Playwrights Colony 1996, Young Peoples Theatre 1992.
He worked in the New Play Creation Group at Canadian Stage Company 1991-1992, Director/Dramaturge at Banff Playwrights Colony in 1989 and Associate Artistic Director for Buddies in Bad Times Theatre in 1987-1990/ 1997-2000.
Ed has been a constant member of the Canadian theatre community for years, doing everything from directing, writing, dramaturgy, acting, teaching, to producing. He has been the recipient of numerous awards for his theatrical adventures, including the Pauline McGibbon Award for directing, the Chalmers Playwriting Award for A Secret Life and two Dora Awards for Outstanding Production for the plays The Other Side of the Closet and White Trash Blue Eyes. As an actor, Ed was also nominated for a Dora for his performance in Video Cabaret's The Life and Times of Mackenzie King, and is the proud recipient of a Harold Alternative Theatre Award.
