Eighth of nine children, at ten years left home, in Tuxtla "was where it was made to lose", to the show by Alejandra Avalos. Neftalì Ruiz Ramírez was a human rights defender and vice president of the Gay and Trasvestis Group of Tuxtla Gutierrez. He denounced and organized protests for the murders of several compañeras in Chiapas. He was only 22 years old. His sister Etelvina went to recognize the corpse, she knew that he worked as a waiter.

Transvestite and gay activist known as Vanessa, she campaigned for an investigation into police murders of gay men, and who was reportedly killed by an individual working for the Policía Judicial del Estado in 1993.

The person accused of the murder had been prosecuted. The judge of first instance at the Fourth Criminal Court, had acquitted the accused of the killing of Neftal` Ruiz Ramírez.

The public prosecutor had appealed against the acquittal to the Criminal Division of the Supreme Court of Justice of the State of Chiapas, which rendered a final judgement confirming the decision of the Fourth Criminal Court (12 December 1996).
