Ronald Tavel
(May 1941 - living) U.S.A.
Ronald Tavel
Playwrightr

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Ronald had worked as a prop man on Jack Smith's film, Flaming Creatures. He met Andy Warhol at the end of 1964 at a poetry reading, and acted in his film Harlot and Screen Test (offscreen voice).

During the 1960s in Greenwich Village theaters, Ronald was presenting apolitical camp extravaganzas filled with elaborate drag and parodies of flamboyant theatrical and film genres. One of Ronald's actors in the mid-1960s was the prodigiously talented, ambitious Charles Ludlam, whom Ronald fired after the troupe presented one of Ludlam's plays in 1967.
