Liz holds a Master of Arts degree in Communication/Education from C.W. Post/Long Island University. Since 1994, Liz has garnered a reputation as a premier speaker and writer on issues of workforce diversity, and is a recognized expert and noted speaker and facilitator in this field.

Liz is the principal of Common Ground, founded in 1994, an education/consulting firm specializing in workplace sexual orientation education. Common Ground, has helped firms such as American Express, Motorola and Shell Oil implement domestic partner benefits and sexual-orientation training programs.

She is co-author of the book Straight Talk About Gays in the Workplace (2000), and is author/editor of Training Tough Topics (2000).
