Fascinated with fashion at an early age, Zaldy Goco recalls spending hours with his grandmother, who ran her own fashion school in the Philippines. Equally at home in nightclubs and on runways, Zaldy believes his clothing line was the next logical step after establishing himself as a fashion force in downtown nightlife.
After studying at Parsons in Los Angeles and the Fashion Insititute of Technology in New York, Zaldy and makeup artist Mathu Anderson kick-started their career in fashion on the nightclub circuit; there, Zaldy's looks caught the eye of event producer Suzanne Bartsch.
Bartsch and Zaldy began to work together regularly, and before long, Zaldy and his partner were fixtures at every Bartsch event. Such exposure helped the duo achieve cult status and led to collaborations and image consulting with companies such as Donna Karan and Shiseido.
Zaldy is interested in "creating strong pieces that remain approachable and non-threatening or overbearing. Easy and uncomplicated, comfortable without being dull." Zaldy's client list includes Ru Paul, Jennifer Lopez, Gwen Stefani, Shakira, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Parker Posey.
In addition to being a stylist, a model, and a long time fixture on the Manhattan drag queen scene, Zaldy Goco has been a part-time designer for the past decade, constructing one-of-a-kind, made-to-measure clothing for himself and the women in his world.
