Mark & Mike Zoldy|
(born ? - living) Canada
Fathers and Christian gay activists
The couple, living in Winnipeg, has been together since 1986. In 2000, Mike changed his last name from Van Doeselaar to Zoldy. The couple filed joint taxes in 2000, a new feature under Canadian tax code. Alexandra Clara Marilyn Zoldy was born on May 25, 2000. Mark and Mike Zoldy were married on December 30, 2003. And they have one more child.

"Needless to say," states Mark, "she is the apple of our eye."
"I receive pamphlets and tapes from...Christians (unsolicited and anonymous) telling me how God wants me dead or miraculously changed from homosexual to heterosexual through a methodoogy not recommended by any legitimate medical body. 'Christians' have told me that I am innately evil, responsible for the destruction of whole civilizations, violent by nature, a Nazi and a Stalinist.
I am also accused by them of being dedicated and determined to destroy 'the family' and that I am irresponsibly bent on spreading devastating epidemics... We must demand that Christians honestly face their departure from their declared values, repent and repay for their errors, accommodate and facilitate our return to our collective family table. We must also try to do the same, reaching out and educating those who are currently and traditionally our persecutors and destroyers."

"We were legally married here in Canada on December 30th, 2003, in Thunder Bay, Ontario, by the Chief Justice there (other justices wouldn't do it). It was still illegal in our home province of Manitoba.
We had a renewal of vows at our church in Winnipeg on September 9th, 2006, after our church went through a vote to allow it. Make of it what you will.
As of September 9th, 2012, we have been together for 26 years.
All of our children are legally ours. If you access their birth certificates, you will find two spaces that say "parent" underneath and only Mike and I are listed as parents, which is, of course, the case.
Last December 20th, 2011, our school division ratified a "Gender Diversity" policy protecting differently gendered persons in our school division. All employees of the school division must receive two professional days of training/sensitization regarding gender issues. As well, all of our schools now haver resources to deal with this issue. Regardless, our provincial curriculum is still devoid of any teaching on gender diversity and our Human Rights Commission hasn't found a case of discrimination based on sexual orientation in 26 years (when the law was written)."
