Rodolfo Ayala-Ayala
1983 - June 12, 2016

Rodolfo Ayala-Ayalar Rodolfo was originally from San Germán, Puerto Rico. He was living in Kissimmee, Florida, and worked as a biologics assistant at the OneBlood donation center since December 2011.

Rodolfo began working with the nonprofit organization in December 2011 as a biologics assistant, most recently serving as a platelet supervisor in the Orlando laboratory. "Rodolfo was a highly respected member of the OneBlood family. He was passionate about saving lives and took great pride in the lifesaving work he performed," the organization said in a statement.

He shared his knowledge and best practices with co-workers and worked diligently as part of a team, the statement said. "He was a caring and friendly person and will be greatly missed by everyone who had the honor of knowing him," it added.

Rodolfo's friend for the past two years, Johnny Rivera Muņiz, said that his friend was known for his compassion and perfectionism, "doing things the right way."

"He was very close with many people in the Biologics department," a OneBlood spokesperson told BuzzFeed News. "Needless to say, it's a tough day at the blood bank."

Co-workers said Rodolfo was unafraid to be himself. He helped support his family in Puerto Rico, and he was dedicated to helping save lives through his work.

A group of OneBlood employees were at Pulse when the attack began. Rodolfo's colleagues could not get ahold of him and learned Sunday morning that he was among the 49 people who were murdered during the attack.

After the shooting at Pulse, thousands of people rushed to donate blood for the victims, according to OneBlood, a donation center. But OneBlood became involved even deeper when it discovered that one of its employees, Rodolfo Ayala-Ayala, had been killed.

Rodolfo did not go out very often, but when he did, he danced, said his friend Johnny Rivera Muņiz. "He loved to dance salsa and all kinds of Latin dancing, He didn't even drink, because he had a long drive home and always wanted to be safe."
